Unusual electoral conditions

The interlocutor agreed that the election would take place under truly unusual conditions.

“These elections will be held in unusual conditions. It is worth mentioning that all voters, all members of electoral commissions, the people who will be at the voting table during their stay must wear personal protective equipment. If the members of the commission voters must wear medical masks or respirators, voters must wear personal protective equipment that covers their nose and mouth. It is necessary not to forget the personal document and bring your own writing instrument, “said L. Matjošaitytė to the requirements.

For those who do not have a writing instrument, they will be provided, later, disinfected, not just a pencil.

A safety distance of 1 meter must also be respected. There will be many more places to vote this year, where you can vote in advance, and the voting time will change.

“The voting begins in advance on October 5 and will last 4 days, from Monday to Thursday. (…) The voting begins an hour before, from 7 in the morning and lasts until 8 at night, it is really possible to find time to go, ”said L. Matjošaitytė on the show.

Early voting will take place not only at municipal premises but also elsewhere. For example, in Vilnius, voting will be available in 4 more locations and polling places will be set up outdoors.

It is recommended that people at risk vote as soon as possible.

“Voters who are at risk are definitely advised to choose their morning voting hours from 7 am to 9 am when there are fewer people. This will avoid unnecessary confusion ”, said the interlocutor.

The president of the CEC recalled that this year voters will not receive registered ballots either.

“I would like to tell everyone that this year is a great innovation, there are no more recorded messages. Now they are sent without any personal data, only basic information. It should really not surprise us that no nominal report has been received,” recalled L. Matjošaitytė .

And the category of those who can vote at home also includes those over 70 and people in self-isolation.

“Those people have the right to vote at home, but must be notified to the CEC that they want to vote at home. How to do this is indicated on our website, included in the application form. As far as the voter must indicate that he is in self-isolation, no evidence is required for that ”, L. Matjošaitytė spoke about the vote of people in self-isolation in elections.

Frequent questions

Even though we vote a lot, voters still make mistakes. L. Matjošaitytė said that the concepts of multi-member and single-member constituencies raise most of the questions. According to the interlocutor, from several members: throughout Lithuania, 17 political parties compete here. And there are 71 single-member electoral districts in Lithuania, different numbers of politicians participate in certain territories.

“Each voter will receive two ballots. One will have 17 parties, you must choose a party you want to vote for and there are 5 empty boxes at the bottom, a voter from the list of the selected party can give priority votes, here is the ranking. It is It is possible to record everything, 4,3,2,1 or anything. If there is a number that is repeated, it does not mean that a higher score is awarded, “explained L. Matjošaitytė.

In the next newsletter, you only need to highlight one policy.

All information about the candidates can be found on the CCA website. All debates will be broadcast there.

CEC President L. Matjošaitytė called for a vote to be held, including to express protest.

“The damage to the ballot is a kind of protest. If we spend time at home and we do not vote, then we let others decide, we should not do that. Let’s go ourselves, put the points where they should be, we do not choose candidates for the neighbors. And if it seems that a vote is not important, but that result may be affected ”.
