The situation was the following. We visited the Antakalnis polyclinic with the children. After all the paperwork, we still had to visit the reception. While I was waiting, I noticed a distracted man looking forward to the past in the place where the temperature is measured in the polyclinic. I saw it being returned to the temperature measuring device, then they jumped it and directed it to the device where the coupon needed to be collected.

The man printed the voucher and approached the reception boxes waiting for his turn. Moments later, the woman’s cry was heard: “Look, look, this man is about to fall, he is bleeding!”

With that woman, we planted a man on a bench. I noticed more and more bleeding from his hand, which had been cut with some fingers. The trauma was really serious. As I realized, the man was in a state of shock because he said almost nothing, only looked at one point.

Then I came across one of the reception boxes and said I needed urgent help. After my words, I didn’t even understand if the receptionist understood, because it gave the impression that she was not in a hurry for a drink. I ran to the next box; I also didn’t see any urgent action there. I went back to the box where I had asked for help earlier.

They said: we called the office, we looked for a doctor. The man sat farther away and bled even more. Only after a while, as I understand it, the receptionist came in and handed the man a paper towel (in a medical facility, is that mostly what he could offer?). She said “support”, did not look at the trauma, asked what doctor the man was assigned to and whom she went to.

The faint man sat down and waited, his hand bleeding profusely. Blood was stained at the reception. It was evident that the man was weakening. Only after a while did the same employee come up and take him to the elevator (not in a wheelchair).

The situation was amazing. For one person who clearly saw the need for urgent medical attention, measuring temperature and waiting at the front desk was shown to be a more important procedure than providing emergency care. So where do you get help if you go to such an institution and fail? Shouldn’t there be an on-call specialist in the office who can help right away and not have to search multiple offices?

Although, on the other hand, the situation is familiar. When I approached this medical facility for urgent help for my son’s spring, it also took too long and I couldn’t find anything to help. It’s good that I realized that he was running to the children’s hospital and they rescued the boy. I’m even scared to think about what it would be like to need help with a heart attack … After all, there are no other illnesses or problems these days.

According to Rūta Vanagienė, representative of the aforementioned capital polyclinic, his mother, who saw everything, presented it a little differently than it really was.

“The situation is known to the institution. First, upon entering the outpatient clinic, the patient, like everyone who visits the facility, was asked to measure the temperature and then sat down to wait for service at the reception.

At that moment, the reception coordinators saw that the person was bleeding, so they immediately approached him, took measures to stop the bleeding, and urgently sought specialized help, that is, a doctor who could care for the patient. According to the specialist, the employees accompanied him to the doctor’s office, ”said the representative.

We regret that this situation was unacceptable to a close patient.
