LeBron James raises $ 100 million for a new media company

NBA star LeBron James and agent Maverick Carter have raised $ 100 million in an effort to launch a media company with community-oriented African-American content creators.

James and Carter, posing as the Los Angeles Lakers star’s business partner, launched their business, called the Springhill Co., shortly before the coronavirus pandemic closed the country in March.

“When we talk about telling stories, we want to be able to get home, hitting many houses where they feel they can be part of that story. And they feel like, oh you know what? I can identify with that. It is very organic for our education, ”James told Bloomberg.

“When you grow up in a place like where we were, no matter how talented you are, if you don’t even know other things exist, there is no way that you feel empowered because you are like, I am confined to this little world. That is our duty. Lots of exposure, “added Carter.

Springhill’s offerings will include a sequel to Michael Jordan’s “Space Jam”, with James starring this time.

The couple adds that the media company will offer stories similar to Disney’s with the “genius” of Nike and the social impact of Patagonia, according to Bloomberg.
