The Security and Defense Council held, on Friday night, an emergency meeting that lasted until the early hours of Saturday, in which the security situation in the country was discussed, in addition to the effects of floods and rains, and issued a decision declaring a state of maximum alert, and mobilizing the capacities of the state and the popular effort to mitigate the potential losses during the next days. .
Several Arab countries announced their solidarity with Sudan, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, sending urgent aid to those affected, while Cairo expressed its position alongside Khartoum “to face the repercussions of the torrents and floods.” Al-Azhar also expressed his solidarity with Sudan.
