Hassan’s words came during his presidency, Monday, of the meeting of the scientific committee of the Ministry of Public Health to follow up on the evaluation of the epidemiological curve.
Hassan noted that “the scientific committee meeting focused on six points.”
The first: “Raise a recommendation on behalf of the scientific committee to the National Committee to combat the Crown epidemic to close the neighborhoods of some major cities, including the capital, because the source of contagion is sometimes in the city before the infection spreads to the countryside and not the other way around ”, pointing out“ the importance of adopting the number of wounded living in the city. It is not registered in the civil registry of all towns or cities, “stressing” the need to reduce the number of injured “, highlighting that” the issue is directly related to the performance of the citizen, which allows responding to the demands of the economic, commercial and tourist sectors not to resort to partial or general closures “.
The second – “The containment phase has been passed with the increase in the daily number of wounded, and the Ministry of Health can no longer carry out tests for samples aimed at contacts from the first, second, third and fourth rounds. Responsibility towards themselves and their community, as long as the Ministry of Public Health continues, and among its capabilities, are targeted sample inspection campaigns.
The third: “If someone has a positive PCR test and remains at home without symptoms for ten days, then they can gradually return to their normal life while taking the necessary precautions. As for those who suffer from symptoms, you should wait for them to pass. for at least ten days and then stay “In quarantine, three additional days without symptoms, without the need to repeat the PCR test, because this leads to the count of additional cases of infection and inaccuracies of reality, so the name of the Same person registers twice, leading to errors and giving higher numbers by two to five percent.
Fourth – “The need to apply the approved protocol in the use of Remdesivir, because there are specific directives by the World Health Organization to use it and it carries side effects and it is not suitable for all patients, in addition to its cost being exorbitant ”. Minister Hassan confirmed that “there are regulations in the Ministry of Public Health. It shows how the amount of Remdesivir received by the Ministry was disbursed with the direct signature of those interested who received the drug for free from various Lebanese regions.
Fifth – Regarding the Corona vaccine, it works on three levels.
The first level: reserving a quantity of vaccine through Kovacs to cover twenty percent of Lebanese citizens.
The second level: We contacted Pfizer to conclude an agreement with them in order to increase the coverage of the Lebanese with the vaccine, noting that the company confirms that the vaccine it will produce will be the first in the market, but we cannot rely only on the company data, but we are awaiting approval of the Pfizer vaccine by the World Health Organization. Therefore, Lebanon is at the forefront of countries that preserve the right of its citizens to benefit from any approved vaccine.
The third level: contacts are made with Russian factories and some vaccine manufacturers in China for the good of the private sector in case companies are interested in importing the vaccine, highlighting in this field that “the Ministry of Public Health will not allow the importing no vaccine before it is approved by the World Health Organization, but the measures that are being taken aim to reserve the right of the private sector to invest and keep up with the Ministry of Public Health in this field.
Sixth – On the recommendation of the scientific committee, two letters will be addressed to each Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice to follow up on the relationship with several private hospitals, especially in Mount Lebanon and the capital Beirut, which have not yet opened departments for Corona despite the public mobilization law announced more than seven months ago. He said that “European countries increase their preparedness and announce the second phase of health emergency, which forces all hospitals to reserve sixty percent of intensive care beds for Corona patients, but some major hospitals in Lebanon and the University hospitals, especially in Mount Lebanon and the capital, do not receive Corona patients and have long had to make them – the decision despite all the facilities and agreements made with the Ministry of Public Health and the Hospital Owners Association.
Hassan added: “Therefore, we hope that the Minister of the Interior and Justice will discuss how to force these hospitals to open Corona departments, taking into account the relevant legal texts, especially since we urgently need to cooperate to save our citizens.”
