Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah’s warning of a “civil war” in Lebanon was met with condemned reactions, while others saw it as nothing more than a political message. Nasrallah had said in his last speech that there are those who are working to ignite the internal struggle, and he spoke about the information he had that there are external parties and some internal parties pushing in that direction.
Among the most prominent of those who rejected Nasrallah’s words were the “Kataeb Party” and the “Lebanese Forces” party, and some of their representatives went to blame Hezbollah for what could happen in the country, while the deputy of the Progressive Socialist Party Bilal Abdullah He considered that Nasrallah’s words were a political message and that the turbulent economic situation in Lebanon may lead to insecurity, but it will not lead to civil war for reasons related to the current reality.
Abdullah told Asharq Al-Awsat: “There are no signs in Lebanon that indicate a civil war in the political sense, but rather poor economic conditions and what may accompany security leaks that can lead to the collapse of the country, and It is more. Probably Nasrallah’s words carried a political message and some kind of pressure. The parties should form the government, especially the designated prime minister, Saad Hariri, while he seems to support the (Free Patriotic Movement) and its president.
Abdullah clarifies that “the civil war will be (Islamic – Christian) or (Sunni – Shiite), but today’s Christians are divided, a team with (Hezbollah) and a team against, and in principle the two sides have no weapons, “He added:” And on the Sunni – Shiite side. The motto of the main force in the Sunni community, that is, the Future Movement is the state, and it is not about to go to war, and the only group that owns weapons is Hezbollah, which in turn says, since the events of May 7, 2008, that it has no intention of bringing weapons in. I don’t think it needs to be used for basic reasons related to the fact that it is the base. occupy the decision and power in the state and has the parliamentary majority in Parliament and the last appearance of its secretary general, who gave instructions during which the best proof of this.
On the other hand, former MP Ahmed Fatfat considered that “Nasrallah’s speech on the civil war is inaccurate, and he is the most capable of controlling Beirut in hours and all of Lebanon in a week, since he threatens us and uses his weapons in “Iran is ready to advance outside the framework of the state and institutions,” adding: “(Hezbollah) dragged Lebanon into a war in Syria and brought millions of Syrians to Lebanon.”
The “Phalanx Party”, according to its resigned MP Sami Gemayel, stressed that no one in Lebanon wants war except Hezbollah, and addressed its secretary general from the headquarters of the Maronite Patriarchate the day before yesterday, saying: “Sayyed Nasrallah mentioned the word war 10 times Eligibility, what is this intimidating talk about a civil war? There is no civil war in Lebanon and there is no Lebanese who wants it except you, and if there are some who are obsessed with war and have an interest in it, but the truth is that the Lebanese people from north to south not like war, but peace. ” He added: “You are in control of the country and this system, and you define the limits of your game for Lebanese politicians, and consider that the popular revolution is directed against you. This revolution wants to build a state, a country and future “.
The position of the “forces” is not very different, as Congressman George Aqis Nasrallah demanded that he reveal his information about the parties that are pushing towards civil war. He said in his tweet on Twitter: “Those who want to start a civil war in Lebanon, from internal and external parties, why does Hezbollah not expose them, so that we can all face them? Don’t the people of Lebanon deserve to know who is waiting for them? Until now he knows who starved him to death, who are the poorest, who stole him and who pushed his youth to emigrate. He only needs to know who wants, above all, to ignite a civil war ».
For his part, the deputy of the “Forces” Fadi Saad asked “Hezbollah” to hand over their weapons, and said on Twitter: “The (Supreme Leader) of the Lebanese Republic approached us, threatening a civil war that only is present in his diary, using illegal and unconstitutional methods to evade responsibility for his weapon for the damage. Respect our minds and abide by constitutional and legal mechanisms, and let the Lebanese people decide their fate of their own free will “, ending with the phrase “surrender your weapons.”
