Jill, an American teacher, was born in Hammonton, New Jersey, in 1951 and raised in Willow Grove, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

Since 2009, Jill has worked as an English teacher at Northern Virginia Community College and is believed to be the first second woman in the United States to work for a salary while her husband is vice president.
