Under the title “The Eye of Qana, the Party’s Weapon … and” An Open Eye “on the Army and UNIFIL, Munir al-Rabee” wrote in “Al-Modon”: “The mystery will remain around the Causes, investigations and results of the Ein Qana explosion Politically, the title does not seem to be detached from the context The internal contradictions, starting with the issue of neutrality and ending with the demand for basic concessions by Hezbollah.
The consequences of the explosion
The Ain Qana explosion took place in the context of a wave of strange accidents in Lebanon. Fears still prevail over whether it was intentional or a target similar to the bastard bombings in Iran. Unknown: Information similar to the attacks on Hezbollah and the Iranians in Syria.
Aside from the analysis and speculation about Lebanon’s entry into the orbit of these bombings and its targets, the Ain Qana explosion raises questions about issues that overwhelm everyone else, especially the French initiative. The explosion came after weeks of resumption of work by international emergency forces. And in an area not covered by Resolution 1701, nor the work of UNIFIL. This may open new debates about the nature of the work of the emergency forces and a return to the American demand to expand its powers, strengthen its capabilities and cover its work in the various southern regions. And this is before the end of the period of sixty days that was given to the Secretary General of the United Nations, to prepare a new plan to strengthen the work of international forces.
Domestic fear and international campaign
This will be accompanied by more international political campaigns against Lebanon, especially Hezbollah, which is placing its military centers, weapons and missile warehouses in southern residential areas and villages. It follows political and popular affairs: People are afraid of Hezbollah and its presence in their areas of residence. The Qana explosion goes beyond the issue of government formation and brings to light the US conditions and proposals: we cannot postpone the discussion of Hezbollah’s military status and the conclusion of political agreements with him.
What happened renews the international campaign against Hezbollah by threatening the Lebanese army and the structures and institutions of the State, whose presence at the scene of the explosion did not appear at all. If the explosion happened by mistake in a center containing the remnants of the war, why prevent the presence of the Lebanese state authorities? This is a type of question that will be asked internationally and in the United States in particular. Noting that there are many opinions within the US administration about not continuing to provide more security assistance to Lebanon, while the state’s ability to prove its presence and conduct investigations into what is happening on its territory is lacking.
There was a rapid spread of rumors about Hezbollah members imposing a security cordon around the blast area and vehicles from the party’s Islamic Health Authority entering the scene. Of course, Hezbollah and the Lebanese consider these measures routine “to preserve the security of the resistance.” But the international community cannot accept those excuses.
A new shame for France
The Ain Qana explosion, and what resulted from it, represented a very powerful second blow to the French initiative. Hezbollah, which is internationally accused of storing its weapons and missiles in residential areas, is suing the Ministry of Finance! How can France deal with such a claim and how can it continue its initiative with this party?
Therefore, many questions will be directed to the French, about their position after all that is happening. The questions will not only include the French, but also the Lebanese. This in the framework of the international campaigns that constantly pressure Hezbollah, to isolate it politically from the Lebanese, after what appeared in the government formation file, and the principle of rotation, which the party rejects, and the meeting of all the Lebanese sects and forces in it. The campaign also extends to his security, military and economic isolation, by holding him responsible for intimidating the Lebanese and threatening their security and stability. The most dangerous of all is the continuation of such incidents, and the civil tensions and explosions that can lead to them on more than one level, in light of the escalating open war between Iran and the United States.
