The Iranian chief nuclear negotiator and deputy foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, announced, on Wednesday night, during the seventeenth meeting of the Joint Committee of the Nuclear Agreement between Iran, Russia, China and the three European countries: (France, United Kingdom and Germany), which was carried out via the Internet due to the Coronavirus outbreak, that your country cannot support the implementation of the nuclear agreement alone, in light of the lack of commitment of the European parties to it.

The Iranian press quoted Araghchi as saying that his country “will implement the Iranian parliament’s decision that was passed after the assassination of nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, which includes increasing uranium enrichment,” adding that they are “committed and obligated to implement the Parliament’s decisions after its legal proceedings. “

He explained that “the European parties always want Iran to be the only one to control all illegal and hostile behavior, be it US sanctions or sabotage of the Natanz nuclear plant and the murder of nuclear scientists.”

And he considered that “his country cannot bear all the costs and conditions of the nuclear agreement and the illegal behavior of others, and others must pay to preserve the agreement.”

A round of negotiations related to the agreement is scheduled to be held next Monday, at the level of foreign ministers of Iran, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United Kingdom.

In addition, Helga Schmid, Secretary General for European Foreign Action, who chaired the meeting of the Special Committee of the Nuclear Agreement, stated in a statement that “the meeting between the signatories of the nuclear agreement discussed the existing challenges facing its implementation.

Iran’s Mehr news agency reported that “Schmid emphasized the need to ensure full and effective implementation by all signatories to the nuclear deal.”

Schmid pointed out that “the participants in the nuclear agreement agreed to hold a meeting of foreign ministers of the member states, next Monday.”

Two weeks ago, the Iranian parliament voted a law to “suspend UN inspections”, urging the government to “resume uranium enrichment by 20%” if Europe could not loosen the grip of US sanctions on the banking sectors. and the country’s oil company in two months. “.

This law came into effect after it was endorsed by Iran’s Guardian Council (a governing body of the country) despite the objection of the government of President Hassan Rouhani, who considered that this law threatened the survival of the nuclear deal.
