The court stated that it would also try Ayyash for three attacks directed against Lebanese politicians.
The US State Department said Ayyash also planned to harm US soldiers.
Rafik Hariri was Prime Minister of Lebanon prior to his resignation in October 2004. He was killed in February 2005 when a suicide bomber detonated a truck full of explosives as his armored convoy passed. The attack left 22 dead and 226 wounded.
His assassination sparked the Cedar Revolution which drove the Syrian army out of Lebanon.
