Wakim addressed Patriarch Al-Rai saying: “The Americans are pushing Lebanon towards sedition. All Eastern Christians are not worth a barrel of oil with them.”
Wakim said that the Maronite Patriarch “falsifies the story regarding the resistance, as Israel has attacked Lebanon since before 1968,” explaining that “the resistance arose as a result of forcing the state to defend the homeland against outside parties, which they could not repel the aggression against Lebanon. ”
In a related context, Wakim stated that he supports “the confiscation of all illegal weapons and the search in all places, including monasteries”, noting that “the bombing of the port of Beirut has nothing to do with Muslims and Christians, but with the presence of Lebanon on the map of American interests. ”
He added to Al-Mayadeen that “the Lebanese system has not managed to build a state in 100 years until today,” highlighting that “this political system has ended and we want a transitional stage to establish a new regime.”
