The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following communication:
Based on a complaint from an environmental association with the Al-Bastah platoon in the Beirut Police Unit, about a group of people selling animals in violation of the Animal Protection and Welfare Act, the “CITES” agreement signed by the Lebanon and the recommendations of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
Consequently, vendors were contacted on the pretext of buying two cubs (two lions) and a crocodile. A date has been set to deliver a crocodile in the amount of $ 900.
As a result, the named platoon was ambushed by them, and during the sale process, they were able to arrest:

As a result of the investigations, each of the Haret Hreik and Jounieh platoons raided two additional locations, so that a snake, / 4 /, a shark, a mongoose, / 4 / rodents, reptiles, including / 2 / iguana, were seized, about / 5 / parrots, among others. From animals, as it turned out, they got the so-called crocodile:

Following successive investigations, three animal shops were raided by the Ouzai, Ghubairi and Antelias species, resulting in a number of rare parrots and birds seized, exceeding ten in number.
The animals were turned over to the plaintiffs’ association and the Ministry of Agriculture – Animal Resources Directorate for cooperation between them after we appointed judicial guards over them.
The detainees were abandoned in exchange for residence documents, while (AM) was left under investigation, according to the indication of the competent court. The investigation is underway under the supervision of the Environmental Public Ministry in order to prosecute all the offenders that the investigation revealed.
Here, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces reminds all citizens and pet shop owners that they must verify the legality of the animals they own and resolve their conditions in case they are violated.
