Hundreds of inmates in Lebanon’s Roumieh prison demonstrated to protest against the fragility of medical care, after the Corona virus broke through the prison walls, and prisoners demanded their evacuation before their health conditions get worse and become a disaster.

At the end of the week, the Internal Security Forces announced that they had registered 22 wounded in the prison near Beirut, 13 of them among the prisoners and the rest of the nine members of the security personnel. She said the wounded were transferred to a stone building that was prepared earlier in the prison.

A video clip was circulated on social media showing detainees in prison, who were said to be suffering from symptoms of the epidemic without medication or treatment.

According to the correspondent for Akhbar Al-Aan, the detainees mobilized to unleash a rebellion inside the prison on Sunday night, and videos were released about what happened inside the prison showing the moment the prisoners called the iron doors of the cell and screamed, demanding help and directing their call to those concerned.

Lebanon had recorded more than 23,000 cases of the epidemic since its first appearance months ago, as well as more than 239 deaths.
