On Thursday, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri announced that Lebanon and Israel had reached a framework agreement to negotiate the demarcation of land and sea borders under US auspices and under the supervision of the United Nations, and the Minister of Energy. The Israeli also confirmed the agreement and that negotiations between the two countries could begin in the next few days.

Berri read, during a press conference, the text of the “Operational Framework Agreement for the Negotiation of Border Demarcation”, stating that “the United States is aware that the governments of Lebanon and Israel are willing to demarcate maritime borders on the based on the positive experience of the tripartite mechanism adopted since the Understanding of April 1996, and currently pursuant to Resolution 1701, which advanced in the area of ​​decisions on the Blue Line.
