Two weeks after the incident … security forces detained the attackers against the bank in Sidon

The following notification:

On 04/25/2020, an unknown person detonated an explosive device weighing / 400 / g explosive materials, targeting a bank on Saida – Bank Street.

Immediately, the Information Division of the Internal Security Forces began its field procedures, carried out a control at the site of the bombing and, as a result of the follow-up of the investigations, the identity of the suspects was identified in their participation in the conduct of the explosion, namely:

– and. G. (born 1976, Lebanese)

– M. M. (born 1967 Lebanese)

The Information Division assigned the task force to work to arrest the two men.

On 05/05/2020, after careful monitoring and control, the division’s special forces managed to arrest the two men on the Al-Zahrani highway near Operation Al-Hasba-Saida with a qualitative and kidnapping operation, aboard a Mercedes vehicle.

Upon questioning them, and after confronting them with conclusive evidence that they were involved in the bombing, the former admitted that he had received an estimated weight of 200g of TNT from the latter and had supplied it at home. On 04/25/2020 and during breakfast time, he stuck it on the bank glass and worked to detonate it, and admitted that he had studied several days before the operation, the route by which he would go to implement it and the exit route , and that he had left his phone at home, so that he is not exposed.

The second admitted that he provided the first TNT with a detonator and a fuse (he has had it since 1984) and that his role was to move the first to the deployment site, then move it from the agreed location after completion.

The legal requirements were carried out against them and stopped, and the car used by them in the bombing was seized.

This General Directorate does not commit itself to the issue of preserving security and implementing the laws, when carrying out its tasks, and warns about the participation or acts of chaos, and will play its role in the protection of public and private property, and tackle sabotage prevention. It calls on all to show national responsibility, express their views in high-end and civilized methods, and stay away from manifestations of violence.
