November 19 of each year marks two different occasions, namely International Men’s Day and International Bathing Day.
Although there is no clear celebration of International Men’s Day compared to International Women’s Day, it is an occasion to highlight the contributions of men on the ground and to discuss the physical and psychological problems that afflict men of all walks of life ages.
And International Men’s Day has a story, mentioned in the British daily “Telegraph” report, as the day was set after men felt marginalized by the existence of International Women’s Day.
International Women’s Day was established on March 19, 1911, when countries like Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland began to celebrate it, and in 1913 it was established on March 8, and then it was officially adopted by the United Nations in 1975. .
With the growing popularity of International Women’s Day, men in the 1960s felt they had been marginalized. That is why the American journalist John B. Harris in 1968 demanded that men miss a day equal to International Women’s Day.
“This strikes me as unjustified discrimination, an injustice in the settlement,” Harris wrote, the same statement women make when claiming their rights.
During the following years, nothing extraordinary happened to adopt an International Men’s Day, with the exception of some events in the United States, Australia and Europe during the 1990s, which did not achieve their goal.
But in 1999, things turned around when Jerome Teluxing, a history professor at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, organized events on November 19 to celebrate the man, the same day as his father’s birthday.
There are six pillars or goals set by International Men’s Day, which are to promote positive male role models, celebrate men’s positive contributions to society, focus on men’s health, and highlight discrimination that may be exposed.
In addition to improving gender relations, promoting gender equality and creating a better and safer world, in which people enjoy security and can develop their potential.
Every year, the day carries a new motto, and this year 2020, the motto “Better health for men and boys” was carried today, which was published on the website dedicated to celebrating the day.
International Cleanliness Day
On the same day, November 19, the United Nations celebrates International Toilet Day, and this year it placed a huge model of a toilet in front of its headquarters in New York City, in the United States.
Everyone has the right to safe and hygienic sanitation services that provide privacy and guarantee dignity.

The United Nations says on its website that International Toilet Day is celebrated, to draw attention to those who lack access to safely managed sanitation facilities.
These figures exceed four billion people. The event also aims to take measures to address the global sanitation crisis and achieve Goal 6 of the goals of the sustainable development plan promoted by the United Nations, which aims to make water and sanitation services available to all for the 2030.
The United Nations says that wastewater contains valuable energy and water. Sustainable sanitation systems use waste productively to promote safe agriculture and to reduce emissions and capture them for green energy purposes.
The first element of a sustainable sanitation system is the existence of toilets that effectively block human waste in a safe, accessible and dignified environment. This waste is then stored in a tank, which can later be emptied by the waste collection service or transported through the pipes.
