Turkish Health Minister Fakhruddin Kujah said that after responsible authorities in China complete approvals to sell doses of the Corona vaccine, the first batch will be shipped to Turkey next Sunday night.
The Health Minister added: “The vaccines will arrive in Turkey on Monday, adding that Turkey will vaccinate about 9 million people in the first group, starting with health workers.”
On the other hand, the minister pointed out that tests have begun in volunteers for the second phase of the local vaccine.
The minister also confirmed that no new strain of Corona, such as the one that appeared in Britain, was detected.
For their part, Turkish health researchers said today, Thursday, that the COVID-19 vaccine developed by the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech is 91.25% effective and the rate is likely to increase according to data from the latest phase of the essays.
The researchers added that no significant symptoms were detected during the vaccine trials in Turkey, except for one person who had an allergic reaction.
Turkey agreed to purchase 50 million doses of CoronaVac vaccine for Sinovac by December 11, but the shipment was delayed.
