Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar warned Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and his supporters against “any attempt to attack Turkish forces in Libya.”

Akar, during a speech to Turkish forces operating in Libya, responded to Haftar’s recent remarks about Libya, saying: “Let criminal Haftar and his supporters know that we will consider them a legitimate target everywhere after every attempt to attack our forces. “

A military delegation led by Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar is visiting Libya, where he will hold meetings with Libyan military and political leaders affiliated with the Government of National Accord.

A video clip of the reception of the high-ranking Turkish military delegation in Libya was widely disseminated on social media and sparked a wave of great criticism of Turkey, as the delegation was described as a “war delegation”.

It is noteworthy that Akar met yesterday with the President of the Supreme Council of State Khaled al-Mishri, the Libyan Defense Minister in the Government of National Accord Salah al-Din al-Nimroush and the Minister of the Interior Fathi Bashagha, and also participated at the graduation ceremony of the 50th batch of the Forces of Accord at the Military College of the capital, Tripoli.

Last Friday, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar called on his forces to take up arms again to “expel the Turkish occupier”, days after the Turkish parliament approved a memorandum calling for an extension of the military deployment in Libya for a period of 18 months.

Haftar said in his speech on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of Libya’s independence that “there is no choice but to raise the flag of liberation again and point our rifles, cannons and projectiles at this aggressive and arrogant enemy who ignores our history of fight”.
