Turkish Health Minister Fakhruddin Kujah announced that his country is ready to buy the Russian vaccine against coronavirus “Sputnik V”, if it meets the criteria.

The Turkish Health Minister said today in a press release:

As for the Russian vaccine, as it is known, this vaccine must pass the appropriate laboratory tests at the level of toxins. We will start by testing this aspect of our vaccine, and if all goes well, I don’t think there will be a problem in buying it.

Haberturk was quoted by Koca today as saying: “The Russian vaccine has been left out of Ankara’s circle of interests because we did not get a guarantee from Moscow that it conforms to international Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.

The Turkish official did not confirm his country’s reluctance to obtain the vaccine, noting that the tests are still valid.

For its part, the Russian Center for Microbiology “Gamalia” announced that the “Sputnik V” vaccine against Coronavirus conforms to the current medical standards in Russia.

The director of the center said: We have not set our objective that our product conforms to the standards in force in Turkey or the European Union … “This has nothing to do with the quality of the vaccine … The Russian Fund for Direct Investment submitted a request for approval of the vaccine to the World Health Organization, and the organization may recommend other countries, including Turkey, to use it. But the decision to accept or reject this recommendation rests with the state in question.
