Ankara responded to the call by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Monday to the Turkish ambassador in Tehran.
Turkey’s Foreign Ministry summoned the Iranian ambassador, expressing its displeasure at the “baseless accusations” made by Tehran against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Earlier on Friday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry asked Ankara to provide “immediate clarifications”, as reported by Iranian Al-Alam television.
Tehran said: “The stage of expansionist ambitions is over, and Iran does not allow anyone to undermine its sovereignty and will not give up its national security an inch.”
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that Iran will not allow any party to target its territorial integrity and will not hesitate to defend its national security.
A poetry
The Turkish president chanted a poem from the Aras region during his speech to the Azerbaijani army in Baku on Thursday, which sparked angry reactions in Iran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said Erdogan had not been informed that the poetry he sang in Baku was “wrongly” related to “the forced separation of the North Aras regions from the homeland, Iran.”
Zarif added in a tweet on his Twitter page, in Persian and English, asking: “Didn’t (Erdogan) understand that he spoke out against the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan? No one can speak of our beloved Azerbaijan.”
