Turkey has confirmed the completion of all preparations for the dispatch of military forces to the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced that his country’s forces will go to Azerbaijan as soon as possible to monitor the ceasefire in “Karabakh”.

Akar said in remarks on Saturday that Turkish ground forces have completed their preparations to go to Azerbaijan to carry out their duties, following the ceasefire agreement signed between Baku and Yerevan.

Akar considered Western politicians who accuse the Azerbaijani army of burning and destroying it a serious mistake.

Separately, Akar said, “Greece is responding incorrectly to the friendship we provide.”

Turkish Parliament approval

On Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan requested parliamentary approval to send soldiers to Azerbaijan with the aim of participating in a Russian-Turkish mission to monitor the ceasefire in the Nagorno Karabakh region.

In a decree sent to parliament with his signature, Erdogan asked for approval to send soldiers to establish a “coordination center” with Russia to monitor respect for the armistice.

The text of the decree indicated that the soldiers to be sent by Turkey, which supports Azerbaijan, would be deployed “to participate in the activities of the coordination center to be established with Russia” and to “guarantee respect for the ceasefire.”
