“News from Kuwait”:
The representative of the fuel distributors in Lebanon, Fadi Abu Chakra, revealed to Al-Anbaa that Lebanon will witness, from the first month of the year, a rise in gasoline prices, with a plaque that will arrive between 35 and 40 thousand instead of 25 thousand as is the case now.
He said: “The last meeting that took place in Grand Serail, in the presence of President Hassan Diab, the Bank of Lebanon and the Minister of Energy, Dr. Raymond Ghajar and those interested in the subject investigated in depth the issue of rationalization. of the support demanded by political forces through the reduction from 85 to 60%, and in this context we all know that oil can only be bought by converting 100% of US dollars into cash to import fuel ships, leaving the percentage out of 40.% At what price would you pay? We didn’t get an answer except the matter needs to be investigated and the process stopped at this point and we didn’t know where we were going
He added: “The reduction of subsidies to 60% means that the price of gasoline will be between 35 and 40 thousand pounds, according to the global price of oil. Therefore, we will witness a price increase from the first month of the year if this application is made with respect to gasoline. As for diesel, which is the basic material, the trend continues in support, as is the case, considering that this material is used for industry, agriculture and heating, and we support this.
Abu Shakra added: “We hope that the government will be formed quickly today, before tomorrow, to provide the required stability and that Lebanon will obtain the required external support in cash and oil, noting that the real deficit will increase through the policy that the state is currently adopting by importing the need for power plants through companies and traders, while the need to deal with state to state only.
