The Parliamentary Health Committee suggested a three-week lockdown to limit the rise in Corona infections and give the medical sector a chance.

In a statement, the committee referred to the exacerbation of injuries by the Corona epidemic in unprecedented figures, and to the intersection of medical information from various sources that indicates a catastrophic situation in most of the capital’s hospitals and the rest of the governorates, where the occupancy rate increased to more than 95% and continues to rise.

He added that “the proposal was made to remedy the situation, even in any way, to reduce the high number of wounded and leave a respite for the health sector, particularly the hospital sector, which is taking it, either at the level of its medical and nursing staff or at the reception of the injured, as well as the doctors facing the rampant epidemic.

And although the Parliamentary Health Commission perceived a greater decrease in the economic consequences of the closure, in light of the rampant unemployment, it considered that this is justified given the terrible situation of the high number of people affected by the epidemic and the high employment rate in all hospitals.

And he stressed, “the need for the competent authorities to tighten the closure measures due to the devastating consequences of leniency in terms of the increase in injuries, or for the hardening to be applied to the needy classes and fade in front of the capable and lacking his wakefulness and wandering. ”

He noted that “going to closure each time places large segments of the Lebanese population in the corners of I’tikaaf in the darkness of their homes and cuts off their livelihoods at a time when no financial or in-kind aid is allocated. to fill the lives of these groups and compensate them for leaving their homes. “
