The application “TikTok” announced that new measures were taken to prevent users from being able to search and navigate specific materials related to misinformation and alleged conspiracies regarding the election results, according to the website “TechCrunch”.
In recent months, TikTok has caused controversy in the United States, especially after President Donald Trump’s attempts to ban the app on the grounds that it poses a threat to the national security of the United States.
And the app has blocked access to hashtags that question election results so far, including #RiggedElection and #SharpieGate.
In addition, the application removed video clips that alleged electoral fraud.
According to the site, Tik Tok still faces an uphill battle to remove the offending content, which is spreading on its platform.
Facebook, for its part, took similar action against the same content, except that it included an additional hashtag, #StopTheSteal.
Facebook also banned groups linked to the “Stop theft” campaign, which has been skeptical of the election results, and some of its supporters have called for violence against the results.
Last August, Trump issued an order banning TikTok, along with other Chinese apps, due to national security concerns.
Trump followed suit with another order, on Aug. 14, giving ByteDance, owner of TikTok, a 90-day period to sell the app or give up its business in the United States, and the order is scheduled to take effect on Aug. 12. of November.
The US Department of Commerce issued an order banning transactions with the parent company of the TikTok app as of September 20, and the matter was postponed until September 27, but a US Criminal Court judge The US issued a preliminary injunction that prevented the application from being stopped at that time.
