The United States sanctions against Lebanese politicians or businessmen are a path that has begun, but no one can leak information about the names that will be included in the next lists, as a diplomatic source explained that this issue is surrounded by complete secrecy and turns between the corridors of the US Treasury and State ministries, and a specific team is fighting it.

The source revealed that, contrary to all expectations, to date the file of any Lebanese minister or party chief has not been completed, explaining that as far as the US administration is concerned, the files in this context must be complete. Therefore, if any of the targets of the sanctions filed a claim and won it, then they may demand. The American state, with damages, can reach a very large amount, so the American administration is very careful in announcing the regulations, and therefore there is no room for haste, and the sanction is only issued on the basis to data based on documented documents.

In this case, the source noted that previously issued sanctions lists – which affect Lebanese or of various nationalities – are based on solid evidence, so if the review is carried out, the files do not contain loopholes and it cannot be breached.

The diplomatic source clarified that the files subject to the sanctions must combine two things: corruption and facilitate the work of Hezbollah.
