Russia announced on Monday that Armenia filed a complaint against Azerbaijan’s violations of the ceasefire agreement with the Minsk group.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a joint conference with his Armenian counterpart in Moscow on Monday that his country had presented Armenia’s complaint against Azerbaijan to the “Minsk” group that was formed to mediate in the led conflict. by France, Russia and the United States.

Lavrov expressed hope that Russia’s contacts with Baku and Yerevan will lead to the stabilization of the ceasefire in the Karabakh region.

He also stressed during the meeting that there is no full commitment to the agreed truce, which began on Saturday with Russian mediation, and that hostilities still continue.

For his part, the Armenian Foreign Minister, Zurab Manatsakyanian, indicated that his government is betting on the relationship with Russia to solve the Karabakh crisis, stressing that Azerbaijan must respect the ceasefire.

Mnatsakyanian emphasized that the bombing of Azerbaijan had forced the population to flee.

Azerbaijan stipulates

On the other hand, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, considered that the Minsk group was “biased” and called for the need for Turkey’s participation in the solution process.

This came at a time of mounting pressure on the fragile truce between the two fighting parties.

In a related context, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry accused the Armenian forces of failing to comply with the ceasefire agreement that was negotiated in lengthy talks in Moscow last week, which were monitored by Russia. “The Armed Forces of Armenia, which did not comply with the humanitarian armistice, repeatedly tried to attack the positions of the Azerbaijani army,” the ministry said.

It also added that it had destroyed “a large number of enemy forces”, a T-72 tank and three Grad missile launchers.

Renewed shocks

Hours earlier, clashes between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces resumed, while the two sides exchanged accusations of violating the ceasefire agreement.

In the Azerbaijani city of Barda, not far from the front line, echoes of artillery shelling were heard this morning, according to Agence France-Presse.

In the main city of Stepanakert in Karabakh, the sound of shelling was also heard from the direction of the city of Hdrut.

It should be noted that the ceasefire agreement, which came into force on Saturday, was reached after 11 hours of talks between the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers in Moscow, on humanitarian grounds, but the truce was not maintained.
