The Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) organized the “Truth and Justice for Beirut” march under the motto “The sand of truth is not lost” from Charles El Helou station to the port.
This maneuver takes place after 28 days have passed since the port explosion, without the investigation reaching any of the leaders involved in the matter.

After the end of the movement out of the port, several participants approached the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces in Ashrafieh to be aware of the investigations that are being carried out with the movement’s activists, Joe Aoun, Marc Zioni and Charbel Silva, in the context of the distribution of brochures.
The detainees were released with a residence permit and went directly to the Free Patriotic Movement center in Mirna al-Shalouhi.

The booth featured speeches by various people from the region who were affected by the blast, speaking of their live testimonies and the demands they pose.

Mrs. Marilyn Habilya, one of the residents of the affected areas, said that no one can forget the timing of the sixth and ten minutes of the fateful August 4, because there are loved ones who have lost them in the blink of an eye, and there are who have been injured … demanding to know the truth and confirming that he only resigned himself to reaching it.

Nakhleh, who is also a resident of the affected area, said August 4 was not over yet for those affected by this blast.
He pointed out that no one has yet asked about those affected, demanding a coordination cell, stressing that the priority is to close doors and windows and not give food.

Imad Jara
Jara, who lost one of his relatives in the explosion.
He said that this explosion not only caused the loss of loved ones and the fall of a large number of injured and destroyed entire neighborhoods, but also caused the Lebanese to lose confidence in their future and in what remains of peace in this country. .

Jara added, considering that everyone has many stories about this fateful day, since since that moment, this dramatic picture has not left the memory of the people of the region and the tears do not dry from their eyes.

Demand on behalf of each martyr and wounded that they not mislead the truth, that they do not make deals or that they remain silent about what happened.
“We want a transparent investigation to hold criminals accountable, and this is the only thing that restores hope to the Lebanese in their homeland,” he added.

He denounced the arrest of several activists for distributing leaflets, and considered that it would have been more useful to distribute the leaflet in broad daylight in front of everyone, so it is not allowed to publish the truth under the cover of darkness. Excuse us, it would have been more useful for us to distribute the pamphlet in front of your courthouses, which did not see the militants marching through the streets of Khaldeh and rushed to summon the activists who accused them of demanding the truth. And if it was more opportune that we distribute the pamphlet in Beirut, the wounded capital, whose explosion, martyrs, wounded and displaced people forgot, and hastened to summon activists accused of appealing to the judiciary and seeking justice. And if it was more appropriate for us to distribute the pamphlet in one area of ​​a nation, he forgot all the files on his corruption and corruption, protected from fraudulent fuel, fund owners and negligence, and was quick to summon activists whose prosecution refused to shoot any files.

The lawyer Maya Bardawil, in turn, said that what happened was a crime described against the country and against humanity … a crime beyond description and the ability to imagine … a crime against a brave, fighting people and resilient who lived through wars and overcame adversity … a crime against a capital that is a model of love of life and will. Favored circumstances, and along with the harsh financial and economic war, Lebanon should be subjected to the worst experience in its history, an explosion that destroyed people and stones, and was considered the third of its kind in the world.
We are here today to confirm that we will not lose sight of ourselves and will not tire of striving and lobbying constructively to know the whole truth and hold all perpetrators, neglected people and those who did not assume their responsibilities in the face of an imminent danger that they knew. .
We want everyone to be held accountable, no matter how senior, whether it be in military and security centers, ministries, judges, general managers, or employees.
We are here today and we carry with us a large number of questions that we want answers to in order to get to the full truth:
Who brought the ship of death to Lebanon? And why did it float and the explosives were emptied and left in pavilion number 12, despite its danger? Why did those affected not act and how did they remain silent during these years and did not respond to the books and reports that warned of their danger? Why was there a hole in the amber and if 2750 tons did not explode, where did the remaining quantities go? How was this issue handled lightly? Why haven’t all officials been summoned to the investigation yet and where has this investigation gone? The questions are many, and the answers must be based on the pain of the people of Beirut, the Metn and all of Lebanon.
The first cause of this crime is corruption, negligence, lack of responsibility of officials, insufficiency, the quota system, political protections and red lines, that the real fight against corruption is the responsibility of those responsible . Let’s make this disaster an opportunity to open the archives of corruption and launch the era of accountability and reform.
The Day of Judgment will inevitably come because we will continue to fight and toil. The blood of our victims, our wounded, the destruction of our homes and our heritage will not be in vain. Beirut will not heal without justice. Only the truth, justice and accountability comfort our people and conclude with them some of their psychological and physical surgeries. We will be with His Excellency the President of the Republic, who was the first to ask for the truth and accountability for those involved.

As for emptying the capital of its people, we will not accept it and we will not let it pass, whatever they do. We will stand in the way of an impregnable prey against the repetition of the Solidere experiment in our neighborhoods. We will avoid the sale of our area and any change in it.
In addition to our demand for the truth and our search for accountability, we will demand and seek the restoration of homes, and this must be a priority, and we will revive our heritage with officials and indigenous peoples to preserve the identity of this region.
Time is running out, the damage recognition and assessment process is slow, as is the issue of restoration. So what are you waiting for when winter is just around the corner? Where is the compensation for our families who have been hit by this disaster with their children, siblings and relatives, with their houses, cars and stores? With your livelihood and your future?
People in the affected area are as if they are paying the price two or more times, as a result of negligence and explosion first, and as a result of slow treatment, second, what are officials waiting for? It is true that partisan, civic and individual initiatives are present, but they fall far short of the requirements, and they are definitely not enough to cope with the repercussions of this great disaster.
The people of Beirut are paying the price for the performance and practice of a system of deep corruption that has been controlling the country and the people for thirty years, and it is time to hold it accountable, dismantle it, move on with the salvation workshop, and rebuild. the destroyed in souls, homes, livelihoods and institutions.

May this be the occasion for concerted efforts and coordination between benevolent and sincere forces, and for the passing of all the laws necessary for our people to recover their wounds and rise again, especially with regard to the adoption of a law. accelerated that allows affected depositors to withdraw part of their money in foreign currency because the cost of restoration is quoted on the basis of the market price in addition to other laws. .

We promise that we will “complete” to get to the truth, justice and serious accountability, to see the real officials in prisons, rather than intimidating those who demand the truth.
