The Supreme Defense Council decides to extend the general mobilization

The Supreme Defense Council decided to extend the state of general mobilization for 6 months. At the beginning of the meeting that was held today in the Baabda Palace, at the invitation of President Michel Aoun, with the aim of presenting the evolution of the mobilization situation and other issues, Aoun highlighted the need to extend the general mobilization due to the increase in the rate of infection by the Corona virus and the number of deaths. He asked to know the current situation of injuries, deaths and vaccinations to face the expected third wave of the epidemic.

The Council issued the following decisions:

Re-extension of the state of general mobilization for a period of six months, from April 1 to September 30.

– Impose the use of masks on citizens and request the interested bodies to take the necessary measures against offenders.

Confirming the activation and implementation of the measures and procedures imposed by the corresponding decrees, during the referred period of general mobilization extension.

– Request the technical commission in charge of monitoring the control of the Coronavirus to complete communication with the authorities, unions and interested associations, to put it into practice, and adhere to the procedures and measures that contribute to mitigating the spread. of the epidemic.

Assign the Minister of Public Health to complete communication with vaccine manufacturers to secure vaccines for citizens, while allowing the private sector to secure vaccines through collective and / or sectoral initiatives under the supervision and controls of the Ministry of Health.

– Require all military and security organizations to be strict as a deterrent in the repression of violations.

Assign the Minister of Health to complete the communications and procedures necessary to avoid oxygen interruption, according to the required and urgent needs.

Assign the Minister of Finance, in coordination with the Minister of Health and the Bank of Lebanon, the follow-up to ensure the necessary liquidity in hard currency for companies that import medical supplies and equipment.

Prior to the meeting, Aoun met with the head of the interim government, Hassan Diab, who in turn adopted the extension of the general mobilization for six new months that will extend until the end of next September, indicating at the beginning of the meeting that “citizens They are not committed to preventive measures, while the third wave of the pandemic in Lebanon and the world may be more dangerous. One of his predecessors.
