The head of the Lebanese Pharmacists Union, Dr. Ghassan Al-Amin, confirmed that “the pharmaceutical sector is committed to carrying out the task that has been entrusted to it in the health system as the people have entrusted to it.” And he said in a statement: “The dissemination of the news of the seizure of quantities of drugs stored in violation of the law in some pharmacies that do not exceed the number of fingers The hand, to launch a wave of criticism and comments aimed at undermining the professionalism and the work ethic of the entire pharmaceutical community.
In light of this illicit attack that led to the undermining of the trust that the pharmacist built with his competence and professionalism with his patients, since every pharmacist has become a suspicion and an unjustified accusation of storing medicines, and in the face of this dramatic development, the Pharmacists Union affirms, as trustee of the due application of the law of the exercise of the profession of pharmacy in cooperation. With the Ministry of Public Health, the pharmaceutical community, which is groaning under the weight of the economic crisis, has never stopped providing medical care that falls on its shoulders and ensures the needs of patients, and that the seizure of several pharmacies do not exceed the fingers of the hand for the crime of storing medicines does not place the entire pharmaceutical sector in the circle of accusation. The insistence on undermining the credibility of this sector, which was able, thanks to its professionalism, the full respect of Lebanese laws, and its dedication to the performance of its functions to help the citizen to resist these difficult circumstances, is unjustified and illegal.
The Secretary concluded: “For this reason, and with our full commitment to support the efforts of His Excellency the Minister of Public Health and to make the capacities of the Union available to His Excellency, with regard to the fight against drug mafias, We affirm that the pharmaceutical sector is committed to carrying out the task that has been entrusted to it in the health system as entrusted to it by the Lebanese people, and we ask the public not to immerse themselves behind these rumors in order to preserve the role of the pharmacist and his basic mission of assuring the medical attention that falls on him.
