After the “cruel” video of the murder of a black American man, which sparked an uproar and protests in Rochester, New York, American investigators began to act quickly to contain the anger that sparked tens of thousands of residents.
And on Saturday, New York State Attorney Leticia James organized a grand jury to investigate the case of Daniel Broad, an African-American man who died after Rochester police officers placed a sack on his head and placed him in a sidewalk to keep it from moving.
“The Brod family and the residents of Rochester have experienced tremendous pain and pain,” said James. “My office will move immediately to form a grand jury as part of our thorough investigation of this matter.”
Protests broke out in Rochester, which is home to about 200,000 people, after the Broad family released a videotape recorded with a camera attached to an officer’s clothing from Daniel’s arrest in March, which is another example of violence. American police, especially against blacks.
The footage showed a group of officers covering Brod’s head, apparently to prevent him from transmitting the Corona virus infection, while he was kneeling naked and handcuffed on the side of the road.
The video also showed officers placing Brod’s face on the ground, and the man could be heard yelling, “Get this off my face!” And “You’re killing me!” Referring to the head covering, as officers could be heard saying “calm down” and “stop spitting”, the victim died after being taken to a hospital.
Seven officers were suspended from work Thursday due to the incident and the coroner’s report concluded that the man died as a result of “complications from suffocation while tied up,” along with another ancillary factor, poisoning with the drug phencyclidine.
No one knew of Daniel’s murder until last Wednesday, when his family held a press conference, in which one of its members said that the victim suffered from health and mental problems when the police arrested him on March 23 and treated him with violence.
The accident occurred two months before the death of George Floyd in Minnesota last May, which inflamed the American street with anger, and also moved to global capitals.
