The President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, received at 3:00 pm today the designated prime minister, Dr. Mustafa Adib, who informed him about the atmosphere of the parliamentary consultations that he carried out yesterday to form a government.
After the meeting, President Adeeb told reporters the following:
I met with His Excellency the President and put him in the atmosphere of the parliamentary consultations that I held yesterday with the deputies and the parliamentary blocs, and I touched on the cooperation and desire of all to accelerate the formation of the next government to face the imminent challenges, especially the repercussions of the Beirut port explosion, and begin implementing financial and economic reforms.
My conviction and desire is for a homogeneous work team and a government of specialists to be formed, seeking to work quickly and urgently to implement these reforms that I mentioned. I agreed with His Excellency the President to keep us in touch, and God willing, we will achieve as soon as possible in the formation of this government.
He was asked if he wanted the entire government to be a specialist and he replied that the goal is to have a coherent work team, working as quickly as possible to implement these reforms.
