On Thursday, September 10, 2020, a fire broke out in the port of Beirut, in a warehouse for tires and oils, and it was a 40-day funeral for the capital and its surroundings, and for all of Lebanon, which has become a permanent state of mourning after the explosion of August 4. Our sky turned black again, and the fire was referred to the competent court, mainly because its causes are not known until now. The fire surprised everyone and humiliated Lebanese officials. How could an area cordoned off for security and judicially excluded for any reason burn? Who is the beneficiary and the accused? What is the role and position of France?

Information from the International Center for Press and Information in Paris confirmed that the fire occurred to completely conceal documents and correspondence in the customs administration, which could help the investigation to discover who was responsible for the explosion of the port, and also to obscure the theft of food and goods donated to humanitarian and social organizations. Ibrahim Al-Sayyah, head of the Press Center, points out that the evidence condemns the beneficiaries of this fire and anyone who has an interest in deceiving the investigations.

Today, accountability is directed towards the Customs Administration, as it is “the commander and the finalist” and has a direct relationship with the entry and exit of all goods in and out of the port of Beirut, according to Al-Sayyah. . However, this does not mean that the doubts do not affect other officials who work to serve the strongest and most influential group in the country.

Al-Sayyah believes that the fire will hide the details of the theft of food and goods donated to humanitarian and social organizations, which are sold in the Lebanese regions. Nor does it exclude the owners of warehouses, since they incur daily losses due to the costs that the permanence of their merchandise implies in the port area. Note that most of the goods are no longer valid after the explosion, and that insurance companies are late in paying compensation and are waiting for the results of the investigation to be released to classify the disaster occurred … while they are obliged to compensate in case of fire.

The head of the press center says that the investigations need fair justice and a strong judge who is protected and supported by a group whose only concern is the interest of Lebanon and its people. He regrets the absence of serious judicial progress on the August 4 earthquake and, on this basis, asks: “How will we get to the truth about the fire?” Al-Sayyah fears that what happened and is happening is in the context of a series, not only to burn Beirut, but to burn Lebanon, because the accused black hands will not surrender once the noose is tightened, and a Once accusations are brought against him, they will be sabotaged to the fullest.
