The number of countries in which this new Corona strain appeared, increased to about 33 countries, after Turkey announced the registration of cases of the new strain, which appeared in Britain, according to the New York Times.
Turkey closed its doors to travelers from Britain on Friday and said it had found 15 cases of the new variant of the Corona virus, all of them among those originating from the United Kingdom.
Turkish Health Minister Fakhruddin Kuja issued a statement saying that all 15 people infected with the new strain have been isolated and that their contacts are being traced and quarantined.
The statement added that in tests conducted at the national level, the virus was not detected in anyone other than travelers arriving from Britain.
Since Britain announced the discovery of the new strain on December 8, the number of countries that have stopped flights to the UK has reached about 40 countries, and some countries have imposed restrictions on travelers from Britain.
Scientists confirmed that so far infections with the new strain have not been shown to be more dangerous, but its spread is likely to be increasingly rapid at a time when many countries are already battling a sudden increase in the number of infections
