The crisis of rising dollar prices has reached a level where partial solutions are no longer useful. However, the State insists that the matter be approached superficially. Rather than interfere at the level of dollar exchangers, banks and merchants, the state decided to block applications and websites that transmit prices in dollars and offer them for sale or purchase.
In compliance with the judicial decision that obliges the Ministry of Communications to block these websites and pages, the Director General of the Ogero Authority, Imad Kreidieh, announced through Twitter that “Ogero has blocked websites, while it was technically impossible to block applications and pages on Google Play and Google Play. Facebook “Facebook” without completely blocking them. Consequently, we suggest, in order to avoid greater repercussions on public and private institutions and citizens as a consequence of embarking on a complete blockade, that the judicial authorities officially write to the two companies, in accordance with the established rules, to request that they eliminate these applications and pages for violating laws and court decisions.
Faced with this step, sources from the Communications Ministry indicated that “the judicial decision is nothing more than a media balloon that does not foresee or delay the issue of determining the price of the dollar.” The sources added, in an interview with Al-Modon, that “Ogero’s responsibility comes from being the technical and technological arm of the Ministry of Communications.”
Regarding the possibility of a response from Google and Facebook, the sources considered that “this response is impossible. These companies do not interfere in these matters, above all because they are matters that affect the internal policies of the countries. These companies have other tasks, aspirations and concerns that are more important than what we live in Lebanon. “
