Acting government Public Health Minister Hamad Hassan announced that the cost of PCR testing in government hospital laboratories will be reduced to 100,000 Lebanese pounds, according to a circular to be issued next Monday. He confirmed that the Baalbek Government Hospital will be accredited as a vaccination center from mid-February, following the arrival of the Pfizer vaccine.

Hassan’s words came during his visit to the Baalbek Government Hospital and his meeting with his boss, Dr. Abbas Shukr, the head of the laboratory department, Dr. Najwa Yaghi, and the medical and nursing apparatus, and the Minister of Health said: “We came to visit you at the beginning of the new year, to know the administration of the Baalbek Government Hospital, the medical and academic team, the nurses and all the staff. In all their departments we wish them the best and we convey all good wishes to them on behalf of the ministry and patients, and we thank them for their sacrifice, loyalty and belonging.

He continued: “Yesterday was New Years Eve, and we are happy that people are staying up late, but within controls, and we must never forget that we were and still need to increase the number of intensive care beds, and the Hospitals across Lebanon are following up 24 hours a day with ministry employees. ” Whether in the call center, epidemiological surveillance or tracking, I also want to tell the ministry employees that it gives them a thousand well-being, because you are the unknown soldier, and I also say to all the administrators, doctors, nurses and workers of the Government Hospital of Baalbek, God bless you, that is why today we see the quality of medical, laboratory and outpatient services that is provided and the level of follow-up by this medical and scientific team, and a descending indicator of the mortality rate, and this is what we want as a model to generalize it by providing service and we remain with our humanity, not providing service and keeping distance between ourselves and people, that is why what you do in the Baalbek Government Hospital is typical, elegant and humane, crossing all accounts. Small and narrow, but rather goes further to convey this purely medical message to help and serve the citizen. “

He pointed out that “all support directed to public hospitals is a duty, and is the result of accumulated deprivation and unsound and unfair health policies, and today it is being achieved because we see this positive treatment, and this performance can only be exchanged with giving, and that is our responsibility. “

And he announced that “the Baalbek Government Hospital will be approved as a vaccination center with the Fayez vaccine, God willing, in mid-February, and until the time to receive the vaccine comes, we have a duty to adhere, because the number of injured is high, and we need to increase the number of intensive care beds, from here we raised the cry once. New for private hospitals to enter the battlefield in the face of the epidemic, and to be an impregnable fortress to protect their families, their citizens and their society in various Lebanese regions. “

Minister Hassan gave a special greeting to “all employees and workers of the departments of Corona, and those who serve people in various diagnostic means of Corona, and I tell you that this citizen, isolated within these departments, needs the kindergarten and the care that I see, either by monitoring through screens, visiting them or through a friendly initiative. As the hospital director, Dr. Abbas Shukr, did last night when visiting patients in the Corona department, returning to them and presenting them with sweets, and this indicates that our morale and our humanity have a great role in lifting the morale and relieve wounds. “

He concluded: “Many people cannot afford the cost of the £ 150,000 PCR test due to the economic situation, so we will issue a circular next Monday morning to reduce the cost of the PCR test in government hospitals to 100,000 pounds, which means leaving a very small profit margin for the hospitals and us in turn. ” As a ministry, we also provide government hospitals with free examinations, but through epidemiological surveillance teams that diagnose cases in contact and have symptoms, and hospitals receive nominal lists of those cases.
