The Lebanese army detained one of those involved in the burning of a Syrian refugee camp in Miniyeh, northern Lebanon, which caused the displacement of hundreds of refugees after their tents were consumed by fire.
The Lebanese channel Al-Jadid learned from a security source that the problem that preceded the fire in the camp for Syrians displaced with death wish occurred after people from a Lebanese family came to the camp to buy some items from a shop run by a Syrian family, and the shop was closed, so these people tried to force its owners to open it, but they refused.
Upon their departure, these people addressed a girl from the aforementioned Syrian family, which caused the confusion, since people from the Lebanese family set fire to a store, which caused the fire to spread to the rest of the stores in Syrian refugees.
The army has detained a member of the Lebanese family and the refugees, who were displaced from the camp, have been housed in some schools while investigations are being carried out.
For its part, the Progressive Socialist Party condemned and condemned the attack on the Syrian camp and demanded housing security for those affected.
In a televised interview, the governor of northern Lebanon, Ramzi Nahra, strongly condemned the fire and indicated that the camp is under regular surveillance by the Lebanese army and UN organizations.
Nohra said: “What happened was an individual act that led to the great tragedy that we see in front of us today, and all rational people denounce it, and we condemn what happened because it is outside our customs and traditions.”
