He remarked that “the army supports the freedom of peaceful expression that is sponsored by the constitution and international covenants, but without invading public and private property, and will not allow stability and civil peace to be damaged,” noting that “the budget of the army is reduced every year so that the funds are not sufficient until the end of the year. “
He added: “We spoke with those affected because the matter affected the morale of the military, but we did not reach a conclusion, unfortunately … they do not care about the army or the suffering of their soldiers.”
Regarding the aid the army receives, General Aoun explained that “had it not been for this aid, the situation would have been much worse, and whatever its size, the army duly accepts it to maintain operational readiness”, considering that “The army is exposed to media and political campaigns designed to make it docile, but this will never happen.”
