Sources in the Israeli delegation informed Morocco, during their visit to Morocco on Tuesday, that the two countries that concluded a peace agreement will work to appoint ambassadors to each other in the coming weeks.
The sources told Al-Hurra that “there is a desire to open representations between the two countries and replace the ambassadors for the next two to three weeks at the latest.”
Morocco received an Israeli-US delegation on Tuesday to discuss cooperation frameworks, in a visit that is the first since the normalization of relations between the two countries, mediated by the United States, and the announcement by US President Donald Trump of Moroccan sovereignty over the Western Sahara region.
Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said on Tuesday that Rabat inaugurated a new era in relations between Morocco and Israel, hailing the US declaration of Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, while Jared Kushner, senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, indicated that “the option of self-government is safer.”
He said the three countries welcome the United States’ recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara and that the United States will open a consulate in Dakhla.
He explained during a press conference that Moroccan, Israeli and American officials, led by Jared Kouchner, the main adviser to the president of the United States, Donald Trump, said that the beginning of friendly relations between Morocco and Israel would open new horizons throughout the region.
For his part, Kouchner said that Morocco and Israel have made great achievements by resuming their relations.
He added that the firm included a series of agreements in various sectors.
He said that Trump “rejects the failed solutions on Western Sahara, and that the option of autonomy is the safest solution.”
Bourita highlighted the importance of granting licenses for direct flights between Morocco and Israel, and the agreement to open full diplomatic and friendly relations between Morocco and Israel.
The minister announced the signing of a tripartite joint declaration between Morocco, Israel and the United States, to emphasize the importance of achieving peace in the region, achieving security and resuming flights between Morocco and Israel.
Meanwhile, the adviser to the Israeli prime minister, Meir Ben Shabat, said the three countries were able to “turn the dream into reality.”
He added that there are no limits to the cooperation that can unite Morocco and Israel.
