The Chilean rescue team, “Tobos”, attracted the world’s attention in recent days, after the dog “Flash”, who came with the team, revealed the presence of a live heartbeat under the rubble.

Rescuers, on Saturday, for the third day in a row, continue their search for a possible survivor under the rubble of the Palmyra building as a result of the explosion that occurred a month ago in the port of Beirut, despite “little hope”, according to the Lebanese Civil Defense.

The credit for finding this heartbeat goes not only to the flash dog, but also to the “Live Locator” device, or its Arabic translation: “life finder”.

Lebanese journalists have published images of the device used by the Chilean team, which is produced by GSSI, and the company says on its website that the device can monitor neighborhoods at disaster sites to assist them.

The company explained that the device uses broadband waves called UWB radar technology, to monitor for signs of life at sites damaged by disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, explosions and other events that can lead to victims being trapped under piles of rubble. .

The site added that the device can monitor people’s breathing under the rubble, and can even determine the location of possible survivors under the rubble and the depth of the site, in addition to the device’s ability to monitor simple movements.

The team lost the captured breaths, on Friday, for a short time, but they were able to identify them again, explaining that the disappearance of the breaths was due to the presence of inconsistencies in the electromagnetic signals emitted by the electronic devices with the waves emitted by the device. , so the result was negative due to the presence of some respiration.

They were able to again determine the presence of breaths, amounting to 7 breaths per minute, after the area was evacuated from bystanders, cell phones were turned off and lights were turned off, according to reporters.

On the other hand, the English-speaking Lebanese website “The961” reported information on the Chilean rescue team “Topos”, which was established in 1985 after the Mexico City earthquake, and the team is made up of 18 people.

Over the years and the continuation of rescue operations in various parts of the world, the team became one of the best rescue teams in the world, as it participated in rescue operations after the Fukushima earthquake in Japan. in 2011, in addition to his participation in various rescue efforts in Brazil, Chile, Iran and Egypt. , And Mexico.

Perhaps the most famous incident related to the team is the discovery of a person under the rubble on the island of Haiti in the Caribbean Sea, despite spending some 27 days of his presence under the rubble, an achievement that is considered an important motivation in the team’s search so far for the origin of the heartbeat stuck since 30 days under the rubble in Beirut.

The Lebanese Embassy in Chile worked in cooperation with Lebanese civil society organizations, spearheaded by “Ashrafieh 2020”, to collect donations and also send the Chilean team to Beirut.

The website “The961” indicated that the team encountered a problem when arriving in Beirut, which was the lack of a place to stay, until another civil society organization stepped in and helped them find housing.
