The Lebanese environment awaits any opportunity to confront the displaced. A long legacy of racist and political mobilization exploded in Bcharre (northern Lebanon) on Monday night, when social media was filled with videos of burning houses and constant news of young Syrians being beaten.
Cars full of displaced people and workers stacked on top of each other. They are displaced for the umpteenth time, the only thing they all have in common is that they have Syrian nationality and live in a society that awaits the first opportunity to express an enormous amount of hatred and hatred, in a tribal society dominated by the mentality of revenge.
After the Bcharre crime, where a Syrian killed a young Lebanese man with a firing squad, the townspeople took revenge on all Syrians, there was no need to wait for investigations, nor let the law take its course and enforce the maximum penalties for the criminal after he surrendered. The people of Bcharre surrounded the governmental Serail and demanded the surrender of the arrested person so that they could be exempted from him, not only from him, but there were calls for the expulsion of all the displaced workers and Syrians from the Bcharre region and Lebanon as a whole, turning an individual murder into a racist campaign against all Syrians.
The Lebanese state, the main official, is only able to deal with the results and ignore the causes. Syrian asylum has been a pressure factor on Lebanese society for years, without the state taking the initiative in organizing this asylum and easing its impact on the Lebanese. The absence of the state and the distrust of citizens in it, pushing them to turn to the clan or family to obtain their rights by force, the clan eventually becomes stronger than the state. This, of course, is not a justification for intimidating the innocent with the evil of the murderer. And the murderer, in the first place, should not be demanded of the people, no matter how distressed they are, but of the state and the law.
Supporters of the “Free Patriotic Movement”, whose president, Gebran Bassil, repeatedly expressed his desire to return the displaced to his country, took advantage of the event to say the correctness of their elections and demands, attacking the revolutionaries on October 17 Lebanese, some of whom chanted the slogan “Refugees by air, Basilio by land.” Movement supporters accused the head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, of being the motive for Bashir’s crime because he supported displaced Syrians and repeated their demands to return them to their country.

The Forces, which have a popular weight in Bcharre, were caught between the response of the people and the corrections of the fastingists. Any statement issued by the Forces to curb the anger of the people will be used by supporters of the Movement to accuse the Forces of abandoning the Christians and not defending them.
A son of the village of Bcharre, Riad Touq, a journalist for the “MTV” channel, published a post on “Facebook” a few hours after the incident, in which he called on the people of his village to act with moderation and not take revenge on the innocent.
Many activists, on social media, denounced the reactions in Bcharre, including the villagers themselves, who demanded responsibility for the murderer, but without people being attracted to the racist reactions that affect innocent Syrians.
