A museum in Kakamegahara, in central Japan’s Gifu prefecture, announced that it will begin displaying iron and meteor swords from July.
According to the Japanese site “Nippon”, one of the experts said that the swords give an idea to researchers analyzing how to make an iron dagger that was discovered in the tomb of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun, and it is known that the dagger is made of iron from a meteorite.
The Gifu Kakamegahara Air and Space Museum exhibits a 15 cm long double-edged sword and a 17.3 cm long double-edged sword, both made of meteoric iron.
The swords are mainly made by “Fujiwara Kanefusa XXVI”, a 42-year-old blacksmith from “Gifu’s Seki”, known as the center of excellent sword production.
The swords have grooves like wood grain rather than the wavy patterns seen on standard Japanese swords.
According to specialized sites and scientific journals, a meteor is a solid piece of debris from a space object, such as comets or asteroids, and it originates from outer space and is capable of passing through the atmosphere to reach planet Earth, and when it enters the atmosphere, various factors such as friction, pressure, and chemical reactions with atmospheric gases lead to the atmosphere leading to heating of energy and its emission, where the particle ignites and forms a fireball known as a falling meteorite, and If this meteor reaches the surface of the earth and collides with it, it is called a meteorite, and these meteorites differ in their size and composition.
