The fact that Trump forgave the founder of “WikiLeaks”

The tweet published by the Reverend Mark Burns again raised questions about US President Donald Trump’s intention to pardon the founder of “WikiLeaks”, Julian Assange, before his term expires on January 20, according to the magazine “Newsweek” .

The magazine noted that President Trump has enough time to pardon Julian Assange, whom the United States accuses of espionage for publishing more than 700,000 classified documents related to US military and diplomatic activities, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The US judiciary is also going after the WikiLeaks founder, after charges were brought against him for endangering US intelligence sources.

“Urgent: President Trump will forgive Julian Assange,” the pro-Trump American priest wrote in a tweet on Twitter, which was retweeted more than 47,000 times, but Burns himself quickly retracted this tweet.

In another tweet, Burns said he relied on an “incorrect source” and asked to ignore it, although he did not delete the first tweet.

Presidents of the United States used to pardon several convicts before their terms ended, while increasing pressure on President Trump to pardon Assange, according to the American magazine.

The White House did not comment on Pastor Mark Burns’ tweet, which garnered tens of thousands of retweets and likes.

Assange was arrested in the United Kingdom, in April 2019, after spending 7 years behind the walls of the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he sought refuge after his conditional release for fear of being deported to the United States.

Assange is currently in prison, “Belmarsh”, under strict security measures in London, while the United Nations rapporteur on torture condemned his conditions of detention.

On the other hand, the British judiciary has set January 4 to decide on the decision to hand over the founder of WikiLeaks, Assange, to the United States.
