Artist Al-Montasser Billah (1950-2020) passed away after a struggle with an illness that lasted almost 12 years. Since suffering a stroke in 2008, the late Egyptian star has walked away from the art scene to leave hours earlier in an Alexandria hospital. The deceased was known for his quick wit, lightness and dexterity, and he competed with the best comedians. The artist earned a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts in 1969, then a Master of Dramatic Arts in 1977, before beginning his career with the Trío de Luces Escénicas company in 1970. He has around 200 works, which ranged from theater, radio, television and cinema, which he presented over 40 years. Al-Muntasir participated in many series, the most prominent of which was “Children but” “Ayyam Al Munira”, “Me, you and Baba in the apricot. He also had a presence in theatrical works, including “Muhammad Ali Street”, which was considered one of the most successful comedies, which was screened between 1991 and 1995. Al-Muntaser Billah married the artist Aziza Kassab, who left art to dedicate himself to the care of his family and gave birth to three daughters, for which he was called “Abu al-Banat”. As the news spread, social media pages were filled with comments from Egyptian artists, who unanimously agreed that the arena would be a modest star. Each of the artists Mohamed Sobhi mourned him, who described him as “an artist who is different from everything around him.” The star Mohamed Henedy and the star Sherihan also mourned him, and a group of actors and directors who worked with the deceased. It is noteworthy that the body of the deceased will be transferred from Alexandria to Cairo, where he will be buried this afternoon in the family cemetery.
