Yesterday, Wednesday, French chef Pierre Troagro passed away at the age of 92. The deceased and his brother Jean were famous for introducing radical changes in the kitchen and making their restaurant within a family hotel in Rouen, central France, a gastronomic landmark.

The director of the Casa de Truegro, Patrice Laurent, who has worked for this family institution for 30 years, told AFP that Pierre Troagro “died at his home in Cotto (near Rouen) on Wednesday afternoon.” He added: “His son Michel and his wife went to the place while they were in shock,” confirming an information published in the regional newspaper “Le Brugre.”
Thus, after the famous chef of the French city of Lyon, Paul Bocuse and chef Joelle Robuchon, who died in 2018, French cuisine is losing a new banner of high-end gastronomy.
The Truigro brothers had received their professional training in the best restaurants and achieved the first star in the famous Michelin restaurant directory in 1955. Their restaurant now bears the name of “Le Ferrer Troagro” (The Truigro Brothers), with Pierre in the kitchen of the dishes, Jean in the preparation of sauces and his father Jean Baptiste in Service within the lounge and beverage service. The duo distinguished themselves by their innovative yet simple style.
The Casa de Troagro in Rouen earned its second star in 1965, then obtained a third star, which is the highest rating in the Michelin guide, in 1968. The establishment also won the title of “Best restaurant in the world” in the Zagat Guide. in 2007.
