The Public Relations Department of the Municipality of Beirut announced, in a statement, that “in implementation of the report issued by the Governor of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud on the prevention of the random storage of liquid fuels with private companies and individuals for various purposes In the basements and ground floors of buildings, a team from the Beirut City Fire Brigade discovered a place for the sale of fabrics and clothing in the area of Tariq Al-Jadida – Al-Horsh Street, as it was discovered that its owner intended to store about 9 gallons (10 and 20 liter capacity) containing benzene in a room that was used as a warehouse within the aforementioned store and posed a threat to public safety and neighborhood safety in a clear and explicit violation. Inform the Governor of Abboud to avoid storing any amount of benzene in shops or warehouses inside buildings for any reason. Immediately, the existing amount was confiscated and transferred to a safe place for legal action.
It noted that “the fire brigade had disclosed, in an earlier time, one of the commercial establishments dealing with the firecracker trade in the Ras al-Nabeh area, and it was found that they are storing an illegal quantity of firecrackers in one of the rooms inside the establishment, which constitutes a threat to public safety. . These materials were immediately seized, confiscated and transported to a safe place to comply with the legal requirement.
