Port of Beirut after exposure to the explosion
The German company “Combi Lift”, which was assigned to dispose of chemicals in the port of Beirut after the explosion that occurred on August 4, said that what it found there was “a second Beirut bomb.”
“What we found here was a second bomb from Beirut. Workers found 52 containers in a remote part of the port area, some of them rotting badly, and leaking … odors of corrosion.”
In all, more than 1,000 tons of chemicals have been found, Wilderhof noted.

Environmental engineer Michael Wintler, managing director of environmental consulting firm Hübner, said: “I have not seen anything like this … We found formic acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, acetone, methyl bromide, sulfuric acid and peroxyacetic acid. And sodium hydroxide, various glycerines, etc. Packed in containers collapsed on lifting. “
He added: “Some materials have already been mixed and created completely new materials.”
