The assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist Fakhrizadeh in a terrorist operation near Tehran

Iranian media reports that one of the Iranian nuclear scientists, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, has been killed near the capital, Tehran, and the Iranian Defense Ministry announces his martyrdom.

On Friday, the Iranian Defense Ministry announced the martyrdom of the head of the ministry’s research and development organization, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.

For its part, the Iranian agency “Mehr” reported that “Dr. Mohsen Fakhri Zadeh, one of the Iranian nuclear scientists, was subjected to an assassination operation near the city of Damavand.”

The Iranian agency said that “Fakhri Zadeh is one of the most influential scientists in the field of scientific research in Iran” and is on the “United Nations sanctions list.”

According to the agency “Fars”, “3 or 4 terrorist elements died during a confrontation during the assassination attempt.” The agency said that “nuclear scientist Fakhri Zadeh was subjected to an assassination operation with an explosion and shooting in Absard, in the Damavand district near Tehran.”

In this context, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Major General Hossein Salami, said on Friday that “the murder of nuclear scientists is the most violent confrontation of the hegemonic regime.”

“The killing of nuclear scientists is aimed at preventing our access to modern science,” Salami added.

Notably, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was mentioned in one of his lectures, “Fakhri Zada, by name publicly in 2018”, and Israeli media previously announced that “a plan to assassinate him failed years ago.”

Netanyahu said: “I did a lot of things this week and I cannot talk about all of them,” while the former director general of Israel’s Ministry of Strategic Affairs, Yossi Kuperfsar, indicated that “Fakhri Zadeh is Soleimani of the nuclear program.”
