The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement:
On 04/25/2020, an unknown person detonated an explosive device that weighed around 400 grams of explosive materials aimed at a bank in Saida – Bank Street.
Immediately, the Information Division of the Internal Security Forces began its field procedures and made a disclosure at the site of the bombing. As a result of the follow-up investigation, the identities of the suspects in the implementation of the bombing were identified: G. (born 1976, Lebanese), M. M. (born 1967 Lebanese).
The Division assigned its own group, to arrest those mentioned above, in a simultaneous lightning operation.
On 05/05/2020, after careful monitoring and observation, the special force in the division was able to arrest the mentioned persons in the town of Al-Zahrani Road, near Al-Hasba – Saida, with a qualitative and kidnapping, aboard a Mercedes.
Upon investigation and after confronting them with conclusive evidence that they were involved in the bombing:
The first admitted that he had received from the second a package estimated to weigh about 200 grams of TNT and had it ready at home. On 04/25/2020 during breakfast time, he pasted it on the bank glass and detonated it, and that several days ago studied the location of the process and the path he would go to implement it and the exit path, and also He left his phone at home so that his order would not be revealed.
The second admitted that he had supplied the first TNT with a detonator and fuse, which he had had since 1984, and that his role was to move the first to the deployment site and then move it from the agreed location after completion.
The legal request was made against them, and they were arrested and the car used by them in the attack was seized.
This Directorate General is interested in maintaining security and consolidating the system, and warns of acts of chaos, and will play its role in protecting public and private property, and prevent the occurrence of sabotage, and calls everyone to assume national responsibility and express their views in a civilized and high-end way, and avoid violence.
