The Algerian website “Menadevons”, which deals with military affairs and arms markets, said that Algeria is preparing to receive 3 Russian-made corvettes from “Project Stiriguchi 20380” by 2021.

He explained that two of them are being completed at the “Severnaya Verve” workshops in St. Petersburg, Russia, and that this project, which was confirmed for his part by the “Defense and Technology” Forum specialized in military affairs, took almost 10 years. to be implemented.

The Algerian media website indicated that the delay in completing the cruise deal is linked to the embargo imposed on Russia by the European Union and Ukraine, of which Moscow used to buy “turbines” for ships before freeing itself from this restriction. by obtaining this technology through the company “ODK” (ODK). ) As of 2016.

The “Menadevons” website added that Moscow decided to deliver to Algeria an improved version of these cruisers with the same capabilities and specifications that this type of warship has in the Russian naval fleet.

Among the strong characteristics of the three corvettes, which will be stationed at Algerian naval bases next year, are their advanced electronic equipment, including anti-ship missiles, in addition to the “Pantsir-Am” air defense system and “Sam Reddot” missiles. .
