Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Saturday that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are not in a position to discuss Iran’s missile capabilities.

In his interview with an Italian newspaper, he explained that “Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates stockpile all kinds of weapons,” noting that these two countries “are not in a position to say that Iran is increasing its military capacity, since our missiles are defensive. ” and deterrent “.

He added that “Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Iran are regional realities and we must live together in this region, and no one can rule out the other,” noting that “competition between Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates is inevitable, and we can handle it while rejecting the confrontation. “

Araghchi noted that “Saudi Arabia made many mistakes in Iraq, Lebanon and Syria, supporting Saddam and creating ISIS, and the biggest mistake Saudi Arabia made was pushing others to confront Iran.”

Araghchi stressed that “there is no place for nuclear weapons in Iranian defense doctrine” and that the opportunity “is still available for Tehran and Washington to return to the nuclear deal, and we hope that the Biden administration will make the right decisions.”

He affirmed his country’s willingness to “go ahead without the nuclear deal if the other party wanted to.”

He pointed out that “the presence of foreign military forces in the Gulf does not help to solve political and security problems,” highlighting that “ensuring the stability of the Gulf is a matter that is left only to the countries of the region.”
